Two University of Rhode Island friends and surf buddies from the 70's had a 1st reunion in 2011. It had been over 30 years since we had seen each other or spoken. The bond of friendship and stoke for surfing had not diminished for either of us after 50+ years.
After a few glasses of wine, we decided it was time to share an exotic surf adventure. The Senior Citizen's Surf Tour (SCST) was born.
The inaugural SCST I began in April 2012 with a trip to California, followed by Bali and the Mentawai Islands Indonesia at Kandui Resort. The trip was defined by great waves, wonderful people and a very bad reef-impact injury at Hideaways for Duane that almost paralyzed him and kept him out of the water in physical therapy for the remainder of 2012 (Thank you Beachside Physical Therapy in Indialantic, FL).
SCST II (2013) was a return trip to Bali and Kandui Resort. Nicknamed the "Redemption Tour",
SCST III (2014) was a surf trip series that included Tortola (February) and Mexico (August at Cardon Adventure Resort).
SCST IV (2015) was completed as a two trip sequence (April in the Mentawais and August in Mexico).
SCST V (2016) May trip to Mizata El Salvador and August to Mexico.
SCST plan for 2017: Return to Kandui! ..After that, let the imagination wander...
